The scent of wildflowers, green meadows... and urban renewal. Since when do new neighborhoods arise in New York? Practically never. After all, this city is already overcrowded with almost every type of community imaginable. Therefore when a new area arises in the city there is no doubt that we should expect something completely new. Just like the last and very dynamic neighborhood of New York, the High Line inspired the creation of the Spring 2010 eau de parfum by Bond No. 9. An unlikely open-air pedestrian walkway flanked by longitudinal concrete structures and railroad tracks embellished with wetland meadows and wildflowers, the High Line rises 30 feet above street level as it snakes its way from the Meatpacking District to the former railroad platforms of 34th Street sometimes making his way between the buildings along the road. Furthermore, recently it has begun to be crossed by a daily parade of New Yorkers and tourists who wish to take a break and a breath of fresh air from the kaleidoscopic city that never stops. We at Bond No. 9 researchers of fragrances that represent the true spirit of New York neighborhoods have long been in love with the High Line and its potential in terms of perfumes. A fragrance capable of transmitting a breath of wild flowers grown in the city and a note of industrial spirit with a bit of Tenth Avenue energy and style stolen from the art galleries of Chelsea as an additional note to this blend... it intrigued us very much. So we attempted to create Bond No.9 High Line. The result is a bouquet with decidedly androgynous floral and marine notes in stark contrast with the flowers capable of resisting any environmental condition and with the meadows that grow along the route of the High Line bringing with it intriguing notes of distant origins. The initial note of the perfume recalls a herbaceous lawn plant, Eragrostis spectabilis, associated with a citrus note of bergamot and spicy Indian rhubarb. The floral heart of the perfume consists of pink rubrifolia, Lady Jane tulips and bunch hyacinth. Its lingering base notes combine macrocarpa oak from native trees that shelter and grow vigorously with imported sea moss to evoke the proximity of the Hudson River along with notes of moss and teak wood to remind us that Bond No.9 High Line is a metropolitan perfume. The surface design with silk-screened texture on the transparent bottle of the High Line perfume promotes the emergence of beauty in this story with a realistic industrial urban setting: in the foreground robust blades of tall grass and vigorous fuchsia tulip buds sprouting from the dark gray of the tracks railways (affixed on the bottle in the form of a metal plate) put the name High Line in plain sight. As for the distinctive Bond No.9 logo, it appears engraved in relief as a background. Bond No.9 has joined forces and become a sponsor of the Friends of the High Line, the non-profit organization that has led and followed the revitalization and reuse of this disused railway line in collaboration with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.Olfactory pyramid: Top notes: bergamot eragrostis spectabilis Indian rhubarb Heart notes: rubifolia rose flower water darnacio tulips hyacinth bunches Base notes: floral notes and marine teak wood moss oak macrocarpa
